GWS Technologies, Inc. Announces Canadian SalesSCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GWS Technologies, Inc., (OTCBB: GWSI - News) an alternative energy company developing and marketing microgeneration solar and wind-powered renewable energy products and solutions, has joined with Golden Sheep Power, Inc. (GSPI), a Canadian company headquartered in Alberta, to distribute Small Wind Turbines, or SWTs, to Alberta’s growing wind technology markets. The Canadian Wind Energy Association defines SWTs as wind turbines with rated capacities under 300 kilowatts. GSPI specializes in distribution and sales, installation, civilian training, and marketing and maintenance of wind power systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural applications, as well as for wind farms. GSPI has placed an initial order for 4kW vertical axis wind turbines and anticipates significant sales growth for SWTs in 2009, with an initial emphasis on residential, commercial, and battery-charging applications. “We believe that a number of opportunities exist for promotion of the small wind industry in Canada,” said GWS Technologies’ Vice President Michael Coskun. “The management team at Golden Sheep Power are highly qualified in energy production, mechanics, and sales, and we share their vision of making renewable power affordable and accessible to everyone.” According to the Canadian Wind Energy Association, Canada has still only scratched the surface of its massive wind energy potential, which currently powers the equivalent of 563,000 Canadian homes. Total spending on wind energy in North America is expected to double by 2010, growing to $7.5 billion annually. After more than doubling in 2006 to 1,468 megawatts, Canada's installed wind power capacity is expected to grow nearly tenfold to 14,100 megawatts by 2015, with microgeneration systems providing a significant portion of the overall electricity generated. In some cases, small wind turbines can produce power at less than half the cost of traditional electricity sources, especially in remote communities which rely on diesel electric generators. The majority of SWTs installed in Canada originate from the United States. The Canadian SWT supply chain consists of approximately 130 retailers and distributors of commercial wind turbines, mostly concentrated in Ontario (55%), Quebec (15%), Alberta and British Columbia (8% each). Most of these companies are new entrants to the market. About GWS Technologies, Inc. GWS stands for GreenWindSolar.
